IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF.
It’s no secret- I’m a MAC addict. After buying my FIRST limited edition lipstick in the Cinderella collection circa 2015 (shade: Royal Ball) I’ve made a conscious effort to get amongst every single collection since. Over the last few years of working for the brand, I collected QUITE a stash, so am extremely excited to be able to share their latest and greatest collection with you.
INTRODUCING: SHINY, PRETTY THINGS. MAC Holiday 2018.
It’s all pretty overwhelming (and BEAUTIFUL) so let me talk you through some of my favs.
COLOUR: The range that is comprised of individual products, heaven for the collector in me.
Extra Dimension Skinfinish in OH, DARLING! is a crowd favourite. As soon as it released earlier this year it was a sell out, I’m glad it’s here to celebrate the silly season and I will legitimately go silly for it. It’s housed in gorgeous silver packaging with a BOW, and I can’t wait to pick up my 4th ‘backup’. An essential in my makeup kit, its a beautiful golden shade and reflects so well in photographs. (RRP: $64)
Lipstick in BABETOWN is probably going to be my pick of the bunch (if I don’t pick up all 5…). Described as a Dirty Beige Pink in a Cremesheen formula, that’s a whole lotta me. There’s also a Bright Fuschia, Mid Tone Pink, Creamy Pink Beige and a Metallic True Red. (RRP: $40)
The NEW Shiny, Pretty Shadow in MAKE A WISH (a Tarnished Olive Shimmer) is heading straight to the top of my list this year. I am in LOVE with olive’s at the moment, and this pressed glitter shadow (new formula I think yes) looks like it could be a favourite. Also available in a few other shades, and GLITTER LINERS… I expect this to create the same if not more fuss as the single shadows last year. (RRP: $45)
NOW… KITS. Every year I know at least one of these goes on my Christmas list (that I usually buy myself because a) they sell so fast and b) patient is not a word I would use to describe me..)
This year I am blown away (whats new) at how many of my favourite basic business products have also made it into kits!
Take the image above for example, which contains what seems to be a mini WHISPER OF GUILT, GOLDLITE STROBE CREAM AND 161SES BRUSH for RRP: $98. A pretty good deal if you’re like me and own TOO MANY of the highlighter already. The Goldlite Strobe is my must have MAC base product. It’s a slow release moisturiser with the iconic Strobe finish, except Gold. So perfect for out upcoming summer as you’re glistening on the beach in Kaiteriteri.
Or the above, which contains a x6 EYESHADOW PALETTE, TECHNAKOHL LINER and MASCARA for RRP: 98. My pick is *obviously* the warmer, neutral shades, but they’ve got the rose one to please everyone! With the mascara valued at $48 on its own, this one’s bang for your buck.
If you’re an avid follower of ‘stuff I love’ over on IG which isn’t actually a segment but let’s just pretend- you’ll probably think these look preeeetty familiar. Earlier in the year, MAC released their Hyper Real Glow palettes and they look identical to these, except they’re all highlights. NOW, I am quite the excited wee bean for these ones. I don’t want to get my hopes up toooo much until I swatch, but these look like creamy, buttery goodness. The FACE COMPACT trio’s (a bronzer, blush and highlight) are RRP: $86 each which is fair, but I’m not holding out hope for my WOC with that shade range.. we will see. (I’m still excited tho lol).
And then finally, along with all the other usuals (think pigments, mini lippies, brush sets, lip sets, palettes and the suchlike) MAC have released 3 LIP collectors kits. The above will speak to all of you who missed out on last years beauty, and contains 10 mini MAC lippies in a beautiful collectors case. This is RRP $180 which works out to $18 a lipstick, but if you’re anything like me you’re doing it #forthegram and they’ll sit on your shelf, just like mine for years to come. If you are after a more practical use, I would HIGHLY recommend this for working MUA’s. It contains top shades: Chili, Diva, Rebel, Relentlessly Red, Ruby Woo, See Sheer, Show Orchid, Snob, Twig and crowd favourite, Velvet Teddy. Because it isn’t Christmas without Velvet Teddy. It’ll sell fast- be at the door when it opens.
Now I mentioned 3 lip kits and I wasn’t teasing. Along with the mini’s, MAC has launched 2 full size kits also. This decision was easy, as I am not a fan of the Retro Matte Liquid formula (great if you love matte lips) but this LIPTENSITY SET… AHHH! The BEST lipstick formula- hands down. They’re a hybrid gel creation, with pigment UNLIKE anything else. My most favourite shade, Doe, has been repurchased 4 times already this year, with another about to be added to my pro kit. They have the wear time of a matte, the comfort of a creme and the look of a gloss- without the stick. This kit contains 6 shades (unfortunately not Doe…) and retails for RRP: $200. You’ll be getting Driftwood, Smoked Almond, Toast and Butter, Ambrosial, Eros and Mulling Spices. This may seem steep, but each individual Liptensity is $50.. so it’s buy 4, get 2 free. Or buy 2, get 1 free.. twice. You get the deal. I rate the heck out of them.
So if you’re anything like me, you’ve just racked up a wishlist at over $800… But fear not, as per, there’s always the online exclusive sets, like the cutest Fix + kit below (RRP: $55). And if you’ve got a Farmers or Ballantynes loyalty card, you’ll be saving money.. not spending it 😉
MAC SHINY, PRETTY THINGS hits stores on November 5th. It’s available at all MAC stores nationwide, as well as online at farmers.co.nz.
Let me know what your favourites are over on the GRAM, and share this blog post with your friends and fam (SUBTLE HINT FRIENDS AND FAMMM!!).
Merry Christmas folks.. lets pretend it’s not October.
